{"id":170,"date":"2014-06-18T03:24:20","date_gmt":"2014-06-17T17:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bendigogolfclub.com.au\/cms\/golf\/course-ettiquette\/"},"modified":"2020-12-19T11:15:21","modified_gmt":"2020-12-19T00:15:21","slug":"course-ettiquette","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bendigogolfclub.com.au\/cms\/golf\/course-ettiquette\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Etiquette"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-size: medium; font-weight: bold; text-transform: uppercase;\">Golfer&#8217;s General Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">All Members and Guests must observe the Etiquette of Golf.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should at all times PLAY WITHOUT DELAY and READY GOLF is encouraged.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">No player should hit until the players in front are out of range or are called upon to do so<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">No person should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is making a stroke.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should move briskly between strokes and vacate the green promptly after completion of each hole.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should leave the green in a direction so as not to interfere with play of the following group.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players must not mark score cards or discuss the score on the green.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should record their scores at the next tee while waiting to tee off.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">The player with the honour on the tee should mark the score card after teeing off.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should leave buggies\/carts as near as possible to the next tee.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players must replace all divots, repair plug marks and must ensure that the bunker is raked after the ball has been played.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">When a ball is lost the players following must be called through immediately.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">A MAXIMUM OF <strong>3 MINUTES<\/strong> IS ALLOWED TO SEARCH FOR A BALL (when in any doubt, play a provisional ball).<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Any group which falls one clear hole behind, impedes the remainder of the field and must call the following group through.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">All players are encouraged to complete the round barring illness, injury or emergency.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Golf carts should not be driven up to or past players during the course of their stroke making.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">The lowest marker in each group is responsible to see that the rules and etiquette of Golf are strictly adhered to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;\">PRIOR TO PLAYING<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Check-in with the &#8216;starter&#8217; at least 15 minutes prior to your allocated tee time.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Players should read the local rules board prior to teeing off.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Be prepared to have other members or guests join you if there are less than 4 in your group.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Be ready to play 5 minutes prior to your time to tee off.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Before play commences, mobile phones should be turned off or set to silent mode. Calls should be as brief as possible and MUST NOT delay play or disrupt other players.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;\">ON THE TEE<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">READY Golf is encouraged.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Mark your ball clearly to ensure that you can identify it.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Take your shot, ONLY when golfers ahead of you are out of range.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Ensure you are standing still and watching other golfers while they are hitting.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Watch where all balls go to avoid time spent looking for lost balls.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Yell the warning \u201cFORE!\u201d if your ball is heading toward another golfer.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Do not move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball when a player is making a stroke.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;\">THE FAIRWAY<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Walk directly to your ball unless you reach someone else\u2019s ball first.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Minimise your pre-shot routine by not taking more than one practice swing.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">READY Golf is encouraged when players ahead are out of range.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Walk briskly between shots and be ready to play when it\u2019s your turn.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Keep pace with the group in front of you at all times.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Assist playing partners when needed by bringing clubs, finding lost balls, etc.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Follow posted cart-use rules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;\">IN THE BUNKER<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Golf carts should not be brought within 10 meters of a bunker or within cart no-go zone lines.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Enter the bunker from the lowest side nearest your ball.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Be careful when entering bunker to avoid displacing sand near the face or the edge of the bunker.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">After you hit, rake the area you played from as well as footprints and any other abnormal indentations such as kangaroo tracks\/marks within reach.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">If the divot and\/or footprints are deep, use the back (smooth) side of the rake to fill them in, then use the front (with the tines) side of the rake to smooth out the area.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Rake your footprints as you back out of the bunker, so when you leave the hazard, the entire area is clean.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Leave the rake in in the lowest part of the bunker with the handle parallel to the fairway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"margin: 10px 0px 10px 6px; ;padding: 0px; font-family: Arial; font-weight: bold; font-size: medium;\">ON THE GREEN<\/h2>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin: 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.950em; letter-spacing: -.02em;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">NO carts are to be pulled across the green.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Place your bag or cart between the green and the next tee box.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Golf carts should not be brought within 10 metres of the green or within cart no-go zone lines.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Take all the clubs you may need.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Repair your ball marks and one or more others.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Avoid stepping on another player\u2019s putting line.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Study your line on the putting green while others are putting.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Do not stand directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is making a stroke.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 0px 48px;\">Record all scores at the next tee box.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Golfer&#8217;s General Responsibilities All Members and Guests must observe the Etiquette of Golf.
